When a special event finally arrives, the pressure to find something to wear can take all the joy out of the occasion. The high cost of dressing up often leads to stress, and unfortunately, many people skip these events altogether to avoid embarrassment or financial strain. The goal of the Dress UP Project is to remove the financial and mental stress related to attending these sometimes once-in-a-lifetime events. Special occasions are a time to celebrate, not a time to feel pressured by the high cost of formal wear.
FANCY CLOTHES MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD
Clinical and psychological studies support the idea that wearing
"nice" or formal clothing can significantly improve your mood, confidence, and cognitive function. This phenomenon is
often researched under the
framework of enclothed cognition, which suggests that the symbolic
meaning of what we wear influences our mental state.
Increased "Big Picture" Thinking: A
series of five studies by psychologists from Columbia University and CSU Northridge concluded that wearing formal clothing enhances abstract thinking. Participants in formal attire were better at seeing the
"big picture" and strategizing compared to those in street
clothes.

Anyone needing financial assistance for special occasion clothing is welcome to use our services. We host fun free in-person events where you can browse and try on outfits, and we offer mail delivery if you are disabled and for select wedding and gala attire.
